A catalogue is the portal to a library's collection of books, journals and other materials. Many universities and other institutions allow public access to their catalogues. Some universities also permit alumni and people from the community to borrow material according to their individual policy. These catalogues can be searched using the search strategy and tips outlined elsewhere on this site. Some reference help may be available either in person, by phone or email.

| Some institutions like museums, research institutes, and large professional organizations have their own libraries whose catalogues can be publicly searched. Borrowing material depends on each institution's policy. Even if use of the material is not possible these resources can provide a guide to purchasing titles for your own library. |

It comprises nearly 215,000 volumes with emphasis on rare books and special collections relating to the history of architectural theory, practice, and publishing from the fifteenth century to the present.
