Wikipedia is the reference source of choice for many. Its ease of use and availabiity is beguiling. Articles on any subject can be submitted and edited by anyone with a connection to the internet. With its democratic approach to the sharing of information comes the drawback that the information is vulnerable to distortion and inaccuracies. Anyone with a particular view point can say practically anything about anything. Carefully crafted and scrupulously researched articles (and there are some on Wikipedia) can be altered, even sabotaged by anyone with an opposite point of view. If you check the history tab you can see a list of the changes and revisions made on an article. While the article content may be dubious, one good thing about Wikipedia is the list of references and links provided at the ends of articles. The Canadian Encyclopedia is a more reliable online resource.
